Moms are Awesome.

My mother and my Mother-in-Law

I've decided women (moms in particular) are awesome. Describing our ability as "multi-tasking" doesn't even begin to describe the super power we've been gifted with. Of course, we have other super powers as well, but today I'm going to talk about "multi-tasking".

Today, Part III - Projectile

Spit up is one thing, projectile vomit is a whole different story. If you've never experienced a baby's projectile vomit, then let me paint you a little picture!

Today, Part II - Re-Injury

I wish I had a picture of Roque flying through the air, maybe then you might have a visual picture to put to this story. If I told you that Roque could jump a 6 foot fence from a complete stand still would you believe me? Well you should. Today Roque excitedly propelled himself into the air once again, grandly displaying his inherited athleticisim, but as always, he actions were not very carefully planned out. Poor Mickey.

Today, Part I - The Doctor Visit

If you've never had a baby of your own that you've had to take to the doctor it will be very difficult for you to understand the amount of distress it puts a mom through to take her precious baby to the doctor, especially when the baby is healthy and well. Even just the act of calling to make the doctor appointment is enough to distress poor mother.

Fluff Arrival!

I believe I've begun a very bad habit. Cloth diapers are becoming an addiction for me at an alarming rate. How can you resist that cute little soft fluffy bum?! They are so soft and comfortable on your skin. Not at all like the scratchy, crinkly, expensive disposable diapers. And today I fed my addiction by adding one more diaper to my newborn collection. Happy Heiny's Mini One-Size Pocket Diaper. In Pink Hibiscus!

First Outdoor Adventure

Kyra, Mickey & baby Roque @ RiverCliff in 2010

Our first outing! A jaunt around the block you could call it. With both dogs leashed up on their gentle leaders and baby Ashlyn buckled into her travel system car sea and stroller, we were off!

My Sister-in-law...

Is an amazingly talented woman. I'm so blessed to have a sister in law with a gift for photography. How else would baby Ashlyn's life be captured in such a beautiful way?

Sleeepp.....

You have no idea how amazing it is to get one chunk of sleep longer than an hour and a half. Twice as long in fact! An amazing 3 hours and 38 minutes Ashlyn slept last night all at one time. I feel like kissing her and telling her thank you. Even though she'll have no clue what's going on.

Introductions....

As much as tried to prepare my two furry babies, Roque and Mickey, for the arrival of Ashlyn, it didn't go quite how I expected it to. To begin with, Roque was a crazy mess. I did everything I could to help prevent jealousy. When we first got home from the hospital Ashlyn was fast asleep so I left her in her carseat (with my husband watching over her) while I took the dogs out of their crates and proceeded to play with them, greet them, take them outside for a potty walk and generally do everything I would have done if she wasn't there. Then came the drama.

Baby Ashlyn Nicole is born!

Baby Ashlyn Nicole was born just two days after her estimated due date on Thursday, January 13th 2011 at 5:35pm. She was born 8 lbs 6 oz and 21 inches long, to the surprise of the doctors (who guessed she would be barely 7 lbs!). The entire delivery happened very quickly and smoothly, but of course there is a story to tell!
